Metis History

This research was done by Joyce Whitford before her passing in October 2005, this webpage is dedicated to her research. In her exploration she waited patiently for the mail for her last genealogical request. When she finally had the pleasure of learning about the Internet and finally having it in her house she spent hours researching and contacting those who assisted greatly in this research. For those who have contacted her and shared their information we thank you. In my travels across the Métis Homeland she would send me on fact finding missions to Lesser Slave Lake,  Batoche, Battleford, and Prince Albert. With each trip a journey of exploration into our colourful Métis History. We also thank the Métis Nation of BC for adding our Mother to the Métis Nation Memorial webpage. http://www.mnbc.ca/ilm.html We continue to meet more that are documenting this same history and we thank you for contacting us, the internet has been of great assistance in sharing information. If any one would like to add information to this page please don't hesitate to contact us Email: northernmetis@pris.ca  or northern@pris.ca  We are always looking for more photos and stories. These webpages were designed by her two daughters Renata and Earlene to forever remember her genealogical research.
